The Phenix, a former warehouse transformed by Lemay into an office and laboratory for sustainable practices, is the first project in Quebec (and the second in Canada) to obtain a perfect 3-star Fitwel rating. Already a Fitwel champion, Lemay becomes the first Canadian architecture and design firm to obtain one.
By integrating Fitwel design and functional strategies into the Phenix, Lemay obtained an exceptional score of 131 points out of 144 for its office that hosts some 350 employees.

“We have always seen the Phenix as an opportunity to inspire environmental leadership and demonstrate the sustainable value we offer our clients in each of our areas of expertise.”
Administered by the Center for Active Design (CFAD), Fitwel is a new building certification whose process involves assessing the performance of a built environment according to 12 categories that improve occupant health and productivity.
The Phenix is also aiming for LEED-Platinum certification, net-positive energy consumption and net-zero carbon. It is Lemay’s second office to be Fitwel-certified.
